Subgrow vs ReplyGuy

How they work, what a month costs on each, the risk to your accounts, and who should pick which. Every fact about ReplyGuy links to the page we read it on.

The short answer

ReplyGuy posts AI-written replies that mention your product in other people's threads, on Reddit from accounts it buys. Subgrow posts one full answer a day in a subreddit your brand owns, from your brand's own account.

Pick ReplyGuy if you want replies across Reddit and X at volume and accept the account risk. Pick Subgrow if you want your brand posting as itself, in threads it owns.

What ReplyGuy does

You choose keywords, and ReplyGuy watches for posts that mention them across Reddit, X and other sites. An AI picks the recent, relevant ones where your product deserves a mention and writes a reply meant to help the person asking while naming your product. Then it posts the reply and keeps a screenshot as proof.

Its FAQ is plain about the accounts: on Reddit, replies go out from purchased accounts that are emailed to you a few days after you subscribe. On X, it suggests what to say and you post it yourself.

The real difference: bought accounts in their threads vs your brand in your subreddit

ReplyGuy's replies appear in other people's threads, from accounts that were bought. To the people reading the thread, the account looks like an ordinary user who happens to recommend your product, and nothing on it says who's paying. That can work until Reddit or a moderator notices.

Subgrow posts in a subreddit your brand owns, from an account that is openly your brand's. Each post is a full answer to one question your buyers type into Google, so the thread itself can become what Google shows, not a reply buried under it.

Accounts and the risk of a ban

This is the part to read before buying. In April 2024, 404 Media reported on ReplyGuy and found that most of the example Reddit accounts its creator had shown off had been banned by Reddit. Reddit told the outlet this kind of activity counts as spam or content manipulation and breaks its rules. Starter Story's account of the business lists "account bans and legal scares" among the founder's lessons, and he sold ReplyGuy in October 2024.

Reddit has tightened up since. In March 2026 it began asking accounts that look automated to prove a human is behind them, and said it removes about 100,000 accounts a day. In July it said its own AI catches about 25,000 spammy posts and comments a day.

When Reddit decides an account is spam, its comments can be removed along with it, and the brand they promoted is the one name left attached to the story.

Pricing, and what a month buys

ReplyGuy's plans are $49, $99 and $199 a month on its pricing page, with a $499 Agency plan shown on its homepage. Each is a budget of credits: a comment it finds for you costs 1, a posted reply costs 1, a DM sent instead of a reply costs 1. So $49 buys about 50 found-and-posted replies a month. Its two pages disagree on small things, such as how many keywords Pro includes and how many months a yearly plan saves; the pricing page gives a 3-day trial and refunds within 7 days if you haven't used it.

Subgrow is $99 a month for 30 long posts in your own subreddit, with a 7-day trial and your first post shown before you give a card.

How Subgrow works

You give us your website. We find your three closest competitors and the searches your buyers make on Google, and suggest a subreddit name. We open the subreddit with your brand's own Reddit account as its moderator; you never give us a password.

Then we post one answer a day, each written for one of those searches: a how-to, a comparison, a top-10 list or a question for the group. Every post is ready a week early, so you can read it, change it, or skip it. If you do nothing, it goes out on its day. Your blog comes too: your 25 newest articles go in first, then each new one.

Google can show a new post within hours. AI answers take a few weeks. Google Analytics shows the visits that come from the posts; we set up the tracking as we post.

What Subgrow isn't

So you can compare like with like: Subgrow is Reddit only. It doesn't send DMs, doesn't track your rank inside AI answers engine by engine, and posts once a day, not dozens of times. A new subreddit starts with few members; the posts are found through Google and Reddit search first, and the community grows from there. Reddit's spam filter can remove a post even in your own subreddit, and Reddit asks accounts whose posts mostly link to their own business to be careful how often they post (Reddit Help). That's why each post is a full answer that stands on its own, with a link to your site only where it helps.

Subgrow also lists threads elsewhere on Reddit where your buyers are talking, with a suggested reply. You can post it yourself, or hand it to a creator who uses your product and posts from their own account, marked as a paid partnership. We don't buy accounts or upvotes.

Results from our customers

Measured results from subreddits we run, named with each company's permission. The links go to the real subreddits and posts.

  • AppFollow19 Gemini answers

Three weeks after we started posting in r/AppFollow, Gemini answers picked the subreddit as their #1 source 19 times. The post it leaned on most was a comparison of ASO keyword tools, written for a search AppFollow's buyers make.

  • RecraftAbout 10× the views

Recraft's articles got about ten times more views as posts in r/howto_recraft than on Recraft's own blog. The blog is imported, so the subreddit started full rather than empty.

  • Cube23 AI quotes

Two posts in r/cubedev were quoted 23 times in AI search answers from August to October 2026, as measured by Peec AI: 19 times for the dbt integration post and 4 for the semantic layer one.

Which one to pick

Pick ReplyGuy if

  • You want replies across Reddit and X at volume, and you accept that the Reddit ones come from bought accounts.

Pick Subgrow if

  • You want your brand's own account, saying who it is, posting in your own subreddit.
  • You've read about banned reply accounts and don't want that risk tied to your product.

Questions people ask

Is ReplyGuy legit?
It's a real product with public pricing, but read its FAQ first: on Reddit it posts from purchased accounts. In 2024, 404 Media found that most of the example accounts its creator showed had been banned by Reddit.
Who owns ReplyGuy now?
Its creator, Alexandr Belogubov, sold it in October 2024, according to Starter Story. The site doesn't name the current owner.
Can ReplyGuy get my brand banned on Reddit?
Your personal account isn't involved on Reddit, since it uses bought accounts. But the replies name your product, and when Reddit treats an account as spam its comments can be removed with it. Subreddit moderators can also ban links to your site.
How many replies does ReplyGuy's $49 plan include?
100 credits. Finding a comment and posting a reply each cost 1 credit, so about 50 posted replies a month.
Why own a subreddit instead of commenting in big ones?
A comment sits under someone else's question, in a community whose moderators decide whether it stays. A post in your own subreddit is the whole thread, question and answer, and it can become the Reddit result Google shows for that search.
Does AI search really quote Reddit?
Google does: Reddit is a leading source for Google's AI Overviews (Profound), and Gemini picked r/AppFollow as its #1 source 19 times three weeks after we started. ChatGPT is a different story: its Search cited Reddit far less after August 2026 (Promptwatch data).
What does Subgrow cost?
$99 a month after a 7-day free trial, everything included. You see your first post before you give a card, and we email you three days before the first charge.
